Autumn is a very special time

The Hatchery is a special place to visit all year round with our mild winters and the beach and lagoon too keep you cool in summer. That being said most can agree that the very best time to visit us and the KwaZulu-Natal coast is Autumn.

KwaZulu-Natal has a largely tropical but mild climate. It is a summer rainfall region with with a low average of 12°C in winter, and an average high of 28°C in Summer with a very high humidity. Autumn, or fall if you like, is from March to May in South Africa and in these months the humidity is replaced by cool evenings and warm days. The morning generally has very little wind and is predominantly in the North West direction, offshore, which is great for surfing and other outdoor activities. The water temperature is cool and refreshing at around 20°C too where it can be a bit chilly in winter and almost too warm in the middle of summer.

Getting rained out on your weekend break is quite unlikely at this time as the inclement weather is sparse and comes in Southerly cold fronts that are usually as forecast and have more drizzle than downpours.

Autumn is always a good option if you want to hit the beach without the peak crowds and enjoy bright sunny days and pleasant temperatures for all kinds of outdoor activities. This is truly one of the best times to visit The Hatchery. We offer a secluded and remote beach and lagoon getaway which is family and pet friendly with a wide range of activities on site and in the surrounding community.

We have had a lot of guests sharing their getaways and experiences at The Hatchery since our last blog post. Take a look at our Facebook page to see some of these videos and images. Click here
